Google Business Profile (GBP)

Your business listing on Google - the panel that shows up in Maps and local search results. The single most important asset for local SEO. If it's collecting dust, you're losing local visibility.

Why It Matters

For any business serving a local area, Google Business Profile is the single most impactful SEO asset. It determines whether you appear in the Map Pack - the three local results that dominate local search. It shows your reviews, hours, photos, and contact information directly in search results.

A well-optimised GBP listing can drive more phone calls, direction requests, and website visits than your organic rankings combined. Ignoring it is leaving money on the table.

In Practice

Claim and verify your listing if you haven't already. Fill out every field completely - business name, address, phone, hours, categories, attributes, services. Add photos regularly. Respond to every review, positive and negative.

Choose your primary and secondary categories carefully. Your primary category is the strongest signal for which searches your listing appears in. Use Google's category list - don't guess.

Post updates regularly. Answer questions in the Q&A section before someone else does. Keep your information current - nothing kills trust like showing up to a business that closed two hours ago according to their GBP.
